HOCATT stands for Hyperthermic Ozone and Carbonic Acid Transdermal Technology — and the name barely captures what this technology delivers. Developed in Germany and used by integrative physicians worldwide, the HOCATT cocoon envelops your body in a synergistic combination of six distinct therapeutic modalities, each amplifying the others' effects in a single 30-minute session.

The sequencing is precise and deliberate: carbonic acid (CO₂) opens the pores and dilates capillaries during the first phase, maximizing transdermal absorption of the ozone and far-infrared that follow. The combined heat and ozone exposure triggers a full-body oxidative challenge that activates antioxidant defense systems, mobilizes toxins from tissue, and stimulates immune function at a cellular level.

For clients seeking the deepest detoxification, the most comprehensive cellular activation, and the highest-impact 30 minutes in our entire therapy menu — the HOCATT stands alone.

Key Benefits

What to Expect

—Deep transdermal ozone delivery for systemic detoxification
—Far-infrared heat penetrates 1.5" into tissue for deep toxin mobilization
—CO₂ carbonic acid increases capillary circulation by up to 25%
—Frequency microcurrent stimulates cellular repair and ATP production
—PEMF field within the chamber adds electromagnetic cellular support
—Photon light therapy adds photobiomodulation to the protocol
—Activates Nrf2 pathway — master regulator of antioxidant response
—Kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi transdermally
—Supports lymphatic drainage and immune activation
—Dramatically accelerates heavy metal and toxin elimination via sweat

The Experience

What a Session Feels Like

You recline in the ergonomic HOCATT cocoon with only your head outside the chamber. A gentle warmth builds as the CO₂ and far-infrared phases begin — within 5 minutes most clients are deeply relaxed and beginning to sweat. The ozone phase is imperceptible (you breathe clean air through a separate circuit); by the time the microcurrent and photon phases conclude, most clients describe the feeling as a full-body reset.

You may notice

—Progressive warmth building over the first 10 minutes
—Deep, full-body sweating (the HOCATT is the most effective sweat-inducer we have)
—Mild tingling from microcurrent in later phases
—Profound relaxation — many clients achieve near-meditative states
—A sense of lightness and clarity post-session
—Some clients notice mild fatigue post-session (hydrate well and rest if needed)

The Science & Research

For the curious: how HOCATT Ozone Sauna works in the body, the studies behind it, and the areas researchers are exploring. Tap a topic to open it.

How it works in the body

The HOCATT session unfolds in three phases, each building on the last. In Phase 1, CO₂ steam fills the cabinet, expanding capillaries and opening pores. In Phase 2, ozone and far-infrared enter simultaneously — now with maximally dilated capillaries, transdermal ozone absorption is dramatically enhanced. Phase 3 adds frequency microcurrent, PEMF, and photon light while the body continues sweating and detoxifying.

Phase 1 — CO₂/carbonic acid: vasodilation, increased skin permeability, improved peripheral circulation

Phase 2 — Ozone exposure: transdermal O₃ absorption, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, lipid peroxidation of pathogen membranes

Phase 2 — Far-infrared: deep tissue penetration, enhanced mitochondrial activity, toxin mobilization from adipose tissue

Phase 3 — Frequency microcurrent: electrical stimulation of cellular metabolism and tissue repair

Phase 3 — PEMF: added electromagnetic cellular recharge (see PEMF page for full mechanism)

Phase 3 — Photon light: photobiomodulation of accessible surface tissue

Systemic — Nrf2 activation: the ozone-induced oxidative hormesis triggers the body's master antioxidant program

Research & clinical evidence (3 studies)

Ozone and the Body’s Antioxidant Response

A review in Medical Gas Research explains how the mild, controlled oxidative stress from ozone may switch on the body’s own antioxidant defenses (2011).

  • ·Moderate oxidative stress activates Nrf2, a master switch for antioxidant enzymes
  • ·These include SOD, glutathione-related enzymes, catalase, and heme oxygenase-1
  • ·The same response may calm inflammatory signaling (NF-κB)

Carbon Dioxide and Circulation

Researchers at the University of Freiburg compared foot baths in CO₂-enriched water with plain water in 18 people with mild circulation problems in the legs (Angiology, 1997).

  • ·Skin blood flow rose about 300% in CO₂ water, but not in plain water
  • ·Skin oxygen levels rose about 10%
  • ·The effect continued after the feet came out of the bath

Sweating and Toxic Metals

A systematic review of 24 studies looked at arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury in human sweat (Journal of Environmental and Public Health, 2012).

  • ·In people with higher exposure, sweat levels often exceeded blood or urine levels
  • ·For some metals, daily excretion through the skin could match or surpass urine
  • ·The authors concluded that sweating deserves consideration for detoxifying toxic elements
