Ozone Therapy 101: What HOCATT Actually Does and Why We Built a Room Around It
Six therapies delivered in one 30-minute session sounds like marketing. It's actually a fairly precise description of what the HOCATT chamber does.
MK Wellness InsightsFounded by Danielle Cordova, Cypress, TXHOCATT stands for Hyperthermic Ozone and Carbonic Acid Transdermal Technology, and the name is a mouthful for a reason: it genuinely combines several distinct therapies into a single session, delivered through one enclosed chamber.
What's Actually Happening in the Chamber
You sit in a sealed, private chamber with your head outside it, while the chamber fills with a combination of ozone gas, carbonic acid (CO2), and steam heat. At the same time, the session typically layers in far-infrared heat, frequency microcurrent, PEMF, and photon light therapy, delivered simultaneously.
The ozone and CO2 are absorbed transdermally, through the skin, which is a gentler and more controlled delivery method than other forms of ozone therapy. The heat and steam open pores and increase circulation, which supports that transdermal absorption.
Why Ozone, Specifically
Medical ozone therapy works through a principle called hormesis: introducing a controlled, low-level oxidative stress that triggers the body's own antioxidant defense system to upregulate. Rather than damaging tissue, appropriately dosed ozone exposure has research behind its ability to improve oxygen utilization, support immune modulation, and reduce inflammatory markers.
This is the same underlying mechanism, hormesis, behind other therapies like exercise and cold exposure: a controlled stressor that makes the body's own repair and defense systems stronger.
The Multi-Therapy Stack, Broken Down
- Ozone and CO2 for transdermal absorption and the hormetic antioxidant response
- Far-infrared heat for circulation and the beginning stages of detoxification through sweating
- Frequency microcurrent and PEMF for cellular charge restoration
- Photon light therapy layered in for an additional mitochondrial-support component
What a Session Feels Like
Sessions run about 30 minutes. Most people describe it as a warm, steamy, sauna-like experience, closer to a spa treatment than a medical one, despite the clinical-sounding mechanism behind it. Hydration beforehand meaningfully improves how the session feels and how well the tissue responds.
Who We See Use It Most
Clients focused on immune support, general detoxification, and inflammation management tend to build HOCATT into a regular rotation, often paired with Infrared Sauna or Red Light Therapy as part of a broader protocol.
