The Elite Athlete
Protocol

A complete, phase-by-phase system built on current research, not outdated defaults. Recovery for every part of your season, the 24 hours before competition, the final hours before you compete, recovery after, and evidence-based injury support if you need it, all in one place.

Built on root-cause, whole-system thinking, not a generic template applied to every athlete.

What to Use, When

No need to read the whole page. A filled dot means it's a top pick for that phase, an outline means it's a solid supporting option.

Phase 1 · Your Season

Match Your Recovery to Your Season

The right recovery on the wrong day can work against you. What your body needs in the off-season is different from what it needs the week of a big game, so here are the top picks for each part of the year.

Your top 3 for each phase, in order of priority

Off-Season

Build strength, fix nagging issues

  1. 1Red Light Therapy
Supports muscle repair and adaptation from heavy training.
  2. 2PEMF Therapy
Helps sore joints and tissue recover between lifting days.
  3. 3Infrared Sauna
Deep recovery, circulation, and relaxation after training.

Skip: Cold right after lifting. It can blunt muscle-building gains, so keep cold for other days.

Pre-Season

Conditioning in the Texas heat

  1. 1EWOT
Builds the aerobic base while conditioning ramps up.
  2. 2Infrared Sauna
Post-training heat supports heat acclimation before summer two-a-days.
  3. 3Compression Boots
Flushes tired legs during high-volume weeks.

Skip: Stacking hard sessions on hard sessions. Recovery days are when fitness sets in.

In-Season

Recover fast between games

  1. 1Compression Boots
The fastest way to refresh legs after games and practices.
  2. 2Zero Body Cryotherapy
Calms soreness and inflammation when performance matters more than new muscle.
  3. 3PEMF Therapy
Supports tissue recovery and sleep through a long season.

Skip: Anything new or exhausting the day before a game. See Phase 2.

Taper & Playoffs

Fresh, rested, and focused

  1. 1NeuroVizr + Sound Lounge
Calms the nervous system and supports deep sleep before big games.
  2. 2Red Light Therapy
Gentle cellular energy support with zero fatigue cost.
  3. 3Nano Vi + Mitolux
Restorative cellular support that doesn’t tax the body.

Skip: EWOT and long, hot sauna sessions. Save your energy for competition.

Phase 2 · 24 Hours Before

Deep Preparation, Not Deep Fatigue

This window is for full recovery-focused sessions, hydration, and sleep, since there's still time to recover before you compete. The goal is arriving at game day fresh, not depleted from something you did the night before.

Phase 3 · Final Hours

Short, Activating, Never Fatiguing

Short sessions built to prime the body and settle the mind, not to induce the kind of deep relaxation or physical fatigue you'd want the night before. No EWOT here, it's genuine cardio exertion and belongs earlier in the week, not right before you perform.

#1

Red Light Therapy

Activates mitochondrial energy production in the minutes before you compete, priming cellular energy output with zero physical fatigue cost.

#2

Nano Vi + Mitolux

Supports mitochondrial energy production through a different pathway, molecular hydrogen at the cellular level, a restorative primer rather than a stimulating one.

#3

NeuroVizr + Sound Lounge

Guides your brain toward a focused, gamma-frequency state, the same pattern associated with peak competitive focus, in a 5 to 10 minute session.

#4

Vibration Plate

A brief 2 to 3 minutes activates muscle fibers and boosts circulation, a fast, low-fatigue way to feel physically switched on before you move.

#5

Massage Chairs

A short session in the zero-gravity position lowers muscle tension and settles the nervous system without the grogginess a longer massage can cause, loose without losing your edge.

How to Actually Visualize

Vague daydreaming about winning doesn't do much. Effective visualization, the kind that engages real motor learning circuitry, shares three traits:

  • ●First-person perspective. See it through your own eyes, not from the outside watching yourself.
  • ●Multi-sensory detail. What you'd feel, hear, and see, not just a visual snapshot.
  • ●Realistic sequence. Rehearse the actual event, including adversity, not an idealized highlight reel.
Phase 4 · Immediately After

Start Recovery Before You Leave the Field

The window right after competition is when your body is most primed to begin clearing metabolic waste and starting repair. Cold, compression, and light-based modalities, alongside real recovery nutrition, not instead of it.

Add-Ons

Beyond Your Membership

These aren't in-spa sessions included with Student Recovery, they're practices and products that pair well with it: things you do or take on your own, between visits.

Add-On · Product

DrinkHRW Hydrogen Tablets

A daily, at-home way to support the same molecular hydrogen pathway as an in-spa Nano Vi session, not a replacement for it. Take on an empty stomach for more effective delivery. Available for purchase separately, not included in Student Recovery.

Phase 5 · If You Get Injured

Not RICE. Current Sports Medicine.

Medical evaluation always comes first. Full stop.

Once a physician, athletic trainer, or physical therapist has evaluated the injury, our approach follows where sports medicine research has actually moved: away from routine icing and passive rest, and toward protection in the first 1 to 3 days, then actively supporting blood flow and progressive loading. The physician who coined RICE in 1978 publicly reversed his own advice on icing in 2015. We built this protocol around what replaced it, not the outdated default.
